THE WAITING IS OVER!!!

In case you have not heard, I am the new Head Coach of Girls Basketball at Glenpool High School. I look forward to the opportunity and the challenge of it.

I have many friends at Union, and MANY people to thank that helped me not only get this job, but helped me become a better coach and teacher. Too many to completely list, so thank you ALL!!!

I will keep in touch, and you will probably hear about me from time to time. You can still check in on me at www.coachfore.net, but it will now be blue and white, not red and black. (Finally - no more OU colors!!!)

Thanks again!!

Waiting Game

The AD at Glenpool has called Coach Stacy, and several of our people at Union have been in contact with him or the principal at Glenpool on my behalf.

I appreciate them all!

Now, we are just playing the waiting game on hearing from them. It would be a nice "Last Friday" gift to hear from them today, but we'll see.

IF I GET THE JOB - I am anxious to meet with the players and have a team camp, and maybe get to the Oologah Team Camp to get them together for a while. Patience is difficult, but I am ready to get going!!

Glenpool?

The interveiw at Glenpool went really well yesterday afternoon. They seemed really impressed with my portfolio (which will be available online very soon), and I think I nailed all of their questions. We'll see soon, I guess. They said they would make a decision by next Friday, but I think they meant this Friday.

The 3 I interviewed with, all three are principals or asst. principals, said the program was going to be way down from what they were used to. They have 12-14 players remaining 9th grade up. So, it will be work, but I am ready.

Caris Beth

Caris is getting so close to walking! She is also starting to say Mama, which makes Adrienne REAL happy!

She looks at the ultrasound pictures of the new baby and points. Hopefully at the next doctor visit we can find out if it's going to be a Bubba or a Sissy.

I'll keep you posted.

Nope.

Well, BA hired someone else, so that's over with. They said they did not hire me because I did not have varsity head coaching experience. OK. Whatever. They also gave "..., youth, ..." as an excuse which makes me wonder if I have a court case against them for age discrimination. The guy they hired is a whole year older than me though.

Now I have an interview with Glenpool on Monday for their head coaching spot with the girls team. Thanks to Mr. Bushyhead for helping me land the interview!

I still have not heard anything else from the other "leads" so I guess I keep pursuing coaching leads.

What's New?

I had an interview yesterday for a position. It went well, I should know by Tuesday or Wednesday of next week how it went and who gets the job. Once I know about that result I will let you know more of what is going on.

Caris was pretty sick last night. Just make sure if you feed a baby strawberry yogurt, they chew the strawberry chunks. Otherwise, they make for a strange bed-covering. And, oh, the smell of it all.

Updates

Caris is about to walk. Hopefully she will wait until her Pops and Nana and Aunt MoMo are back from New York City.

No news on the job-front. I still have not heard anything on Offer 3 as mentioned below. Getting anxious but not worried. I have to give Union my Leave of Absence form this week, so...

Union's basketball tryouts start next week, and you talk about me being flat-out honest. Whooo.

Problems gettign solved and problems creeping up. Keep 'em comin'!

NEWS

We are going to have our second child in December!!!

We don't know if it is going to be a little brother or sister for Caris, but we should know by July.

We are excited, but are just in awe of how we are going to pull this off. We know we will be fine and things will work out, it is just going to be a miracle!

Open Doors

Now that I have decided I am leaving due to low pay, I have had doors open for me.

1. ADECCO, a place that finds people jobs, now has my resume and I am still waiting to hear from them. They are looking for a finance position for me. (Thank you, Mrs. Chenoweth!)

2. I have also spoken with Mrs. Egge who works with Coldwell Banker Realty.

3. A door opened yesterday which I really don't wish to discuss at this time, but probably will later.

So, please keep me in your prayers as doors continue to open and SHUT. I really want a position I can be happy with and support a family on!

WOW

It's been a long time since I checked in here, and I apologize for that.

What a game last night. We gave it our all but just came up short in the end. Anyone there knows we fought the entire time and NEVER gave up. That has been the theme this entire season.

When asked by the Daily Ledger reporter, Jimmy Hart, if that was our best game of the year, I shook my head. It wasn't. It was a top-3 effort, but I think our best game was at Lawton. Anyway...

We have asked so much from you players this year, and you gave us back more than we expected. I really did not think (back in April and May of 2005) that we would get past regionals. But after busting it all summer, working their tails off all fall, I knew we could go far. But this far? WOW. The excitement level last night was incredible! The girls were definitely ready for that game, and so were the coaches.

As I told the team at the shoot-around Thursday, I never doubted we would win that game. the bad thing is, 31 teams in 6A lose their last game. In fact, only SEVEN teams in the entire state win their final game. And to be in the last 5 remaining teams in 6A after we were ranked SEVENTEENTH in the pre-season polls, I can only say I am amazed at what we as a team accomplished this season. No one outside "the family" gave us a shot, but we believed in ourselves and each other and played as a team.

Good job! SCRATCH THAT! GREAT JOB!!!

Basketball

Carl Albert Tournament - disappointing first round loss, but overall good things. Beating Edmond North was a good battle for us, and then beating Del City, a ranked team, was VERY good for us.

Muskogee - horrible team, good win for us again.

Jenks - we gave up 13 offensive boards, resulting in 10 points. Nice work. Some of the same players are not blocking out over and over again. I will be addressing this Monday, count on it. Another alarming stat - we were 8 out of 28 in 2-point range in the first half. Sickening. Worse than that? 6 out of 25 from within SIX FEET! Girls, all you have to do to win is put the ball in the hole! And, of course, play the defense that got us here! BLOCK OUT, PUT THE BALL IN THE HOLE, AND D-UP!

See you Monday at 2:15.

Caris Update

Translating for Caris:
I am doing better now, my eyes have cleared up. I think there might be something growing in my mouth that is giving me the whines. That's what Dad calls them, anyway. He says no one likes a whiny baby. Bye for now.

Carl Albert Tournament

Well, we did not bring our A or even our B game today. We get beat by 2, the stats say we've only payed a half-game (19 rebounds to 18), and now we need a sense of direction.

No one stepped up, shots were not even taken, regression was experienced.

At 9:45 pm, Danielle and Chelsea Helm called a team meeting. I don't know what was talked about, but I think it was about what roles the players have. I hope it went well, and I hope everyone knows their role and why things happen.

We all knew the winning streak would end, but now we can start another one.

More tomorrow after we put the whoopin on Edmond North.

Lady Redskins Update

Well, the JV goes to Skiatook today to start that tournament. We have Kelley today, so we'll just see what happens.

The varsity goes to BA tomorrow night. We should roast their chestnuts.

Next week is a big one - three home games including Saturday vs. Lawton. We have no idea how good they are, so we just have to play our best.

Injury Update

Kendra is still out with her back problems.

Stefanie has been out 3 days due to the nastiest thing to crawl into anyone's throat. She says the doctor reports stones in her tonsils. She may or may not suit up for the Skiatook Tournament, but will have to have a tonsilectomy soon.

Caris Update

Caris is now sitting up on her own!!! She accomplished this over the Christmas Break, but really excelled at home. She has been quite sick with a stuffy nose lately, so good hard sleep has been rare.

We are starting to let her cry herself to sleep now. It's hard on mom, but she's bearing through it.

Caris Update

Caris is just about ready to sit up on her own. She did take a bath last night sitting up for the first time. (She is 5 1/2 months old.)

She really enjoyed her first family Christmas at Nana and Pop's house Sunday. Next year she'll be tearing through the gifts just like her Mama. Hopefully, I can get some pictures of her up soon.

Aunt DD went back to Reno yesterday, but it sounds like she might have spent the night in Denver. We'll see. Nice visit, though.

JV at Skiatook Tournament

The JV team will be playing in the Skiatook Tournament January 5-7. We open up against Bishop Kelley on the 5th at 5:00. You will be getting a bracket Monday or Tuesday of this week to let you know what's up.

We need to take some revenge on Kelley for what they did to us last year. Remember - they also want us for spoiling their little "PIZZA PARTY" this summer. Ha Ha.

Holiday HOOPLA

We did it! We finally learned how to win big games and we came out on top! We beat two pre-season Top Ten teams to earn First Place in the inaugural Holiday Hoopla.

Everyone did a great job. It takes a team effort, and that's what we got. Some people really stepped up when they had to, and that's great.

We always have room to grow, but we sure learned a lot last weekend. Our defense is still working great, even though we have some critics! (Can you believe that?) We still have some times in games where our brains get shut off and we struggle - it looks like an 8th grade offense sometimes.

Oh well, we did win all three and now we take a winning streak into the break. Look out BA! Here we come!!!!
